What is composting?
Composting is a natural way of turning kitchen biowaste into fertilizer and soil conditioner that can be used in our garden!
Now, the difference between home composting and industrial composting is that we have smaller amounts of kitchen biowaste (such as eggshells, peelings, soil, leaves, etc.), and the process is done at home or in our yard, in special composting bins.
Why is composting important?
Composting not only reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills, but it also improves soil health, enhances water retention, and supports sustainable agriculture. It’s an essential practice in creating a circular economy, where waste becomes a valuable resource rather than a problem.

Coffeeway launches certified espresso capsule for home composting
Coffeeway, recognizing the growing need for effective household waste management, has creatively utilized HOME COMPOST for the packaging of its espresso. HOME COMPOST is the first certified capsule designed for home composting. It is not paper based, but it is made entirely from 100% renewable natural raw materials, eliminating the use of conventional plastics in coffee packaging.

The composting habit
Are you new to composting? Don’t worry, it is easier than it may seem, and every effort makes a significant contribution to the environment!
Here is a simple and easy guide, to help you compost the right way:
Step1 – The little bin
Stick to composting only organic materials, like vegetable and fruit peels, coffee capsules, eggshells, dead plants and flowers, leaves, paper towels etc.
Step2a – The compostable bin
Dispose the used capsule in the compostable bin and don’t forget to keep the compost pile moist and well-aerated by stirring it regularly.
Step2b – Not ready for home composting?
Alternatively, you can dispose the used capsule into the brown bins for the separate collection of municipal bio-waste. These can be found in your neighborhood.
Step3 – Make sure to turn the pile weekly and keep it damp.
… when it will turn dark, crumbly, and earthy-smelling! In the usual compost bins, the mixture will be ready in 4 to 6 months, whereas in rotating bins in 1 to 2 months.
